Empowering staff at all levels of animal care affords everyone the opportunity to flourish in their respective professions. Devoping a team of keepers and trainers who take pride in a culture created by a confident staff directly affects animal welfare.
Continuing education is critical for the staff and animals that zoological facilities are responsible for. A handful of staff can attend conferences a year, but what about the staff left behind? Bringing in a consultant to speak with staff and see training first hand is a great way to build the confidence and knowledge base of all animal care staff not just at the supervising level.

“It’s the hardest job you’ll ever love” It’s what a boss told me at a summer job in college. I never understood that saying until I became more involved in animal rescue. Ive pulled animals from ditches and underneath the hoods of trucks. Ive worked in the trenches with you and I understand the specific needs of animals that come with unknown histories, at best. Helping volunteers and staff understand: body language, behavior modification, and what the most current literature shows to assist in successful adoptions are a necessity for ethical rehabilitation and adoption.
